Oil is the lifeblood of your transformer
Managing transformer reliability and means constant uncertainty
Your responsibility managing transformers is a constant journey through uncertainty. Our customers are transformer asset managers like you so we understand that you face myriad daily challenges that demand your expertise, vigilance, and adaptability - often without adequate data to support your decisions.
Plus, you have to justify shutdowns and maintenance to your boss.
Poor quality or inaccurate data and test results can easily lead to surprise shutdowns, maintenance or worse and cost you more than just lost production hours.
Our customers choose our transformer services, including machinemonitor® Oil Laboratory, because they've seen what making a mistake can mean. From catastrophic failures causing millions of dollars in unscheduled maintenance and shutdowns, to hundreds of hours of lost production, to the genuine safety risk for staff and contractors if your high voltage transformer fails.
Certainty and reliability is achievable by combining our expert transformer oil testing laboratory with our expert engineering experience, and machinemonitor’s bespoke transformer online platform, TxAnalyer®.
You can achieve confidence in your transformer assets reliability with machinemonitor’s Oil Testing Laboratory and TxAnalyser platform.
First, we expertly test your transformer oil in our in-house lab. Your results are then reviewed and uploaded to your cyber-secure TxAnalyser portal - forming a key element of our wrap-around transformer condition services.
Your TxAnalyser portal gives you easy access to your results 24/7. As your asset ages and the volume of results grow, TxAnalyser, and our specialist engineers, helps you keep on top of your asset’s maintenance needs.
Your testing, results and monitoring are regularly reviewed and assessed by our Transformer Technical Authority Experts that provide decades of real-life experience maintaining and extending the life of transformers.
Frequently Asked Questions
-
Yes! We have been the trusted independent electrical asset experts for 25 years with a long-standing experience in transformers and expertise in asset management.
Our Oil Lab and transformer technical experts will provide you with an unbiased, independent and in-depth assessment of your high voltage asset.
-
Oil analysis is a powerful tool capable of diagnosing the condition of your asset.
The machinemonitor® oil laboratory is equipped with state-of-the-art testing instruments and highly qualified chemists who are able to provide a large processing capacity with robust accuracy suitable to meet the most stringent demand.
-
Oil samples are taken with 50ml glass syringes to provide the consistency and accuracy needed to properly diagnose any developing problem.
We can take care of sampling, provide sampling training, or just provide the equipment and guidance you need to take the oil sample correctly.
-
Each time we analyse the oil, an assessment is made as to whether an active failure mode is present and if additional oil and electrical tests, inspections or a temporary change in sampling frequency are required.
Our lab reports detail interpretation of results according to Duval’s triangles, IEC Dissolved Gas Interpretation Guidelines (60599), IEE Dissolved Gas Interpretation guidelines (C57-104), & IEEE Oil Quality Interpretation guidelines (C57-106).
Crucially, each report contains a Peer Review from our machinemonitor® transformer expert.
-
Yes! Your results are provided via our integrated online platform, TxAnalyser®. Years ago machinemonitor® recognised that customers needed a fuss-free, online platform to access results 24/7 and see the health of their transformers over time.
As a result we developed and maintain a bespoke online cyber-secure and customisable platform to keep all your transformer data and results and analysis in one easy-to-access place. A key benefit is the snapshot you build over time. Helping you plan maintenance and ensure longevity and reliability of your transformer asset.
-
Yes! In fact we have taken the extra step of NATA Accreditation. We ensure oil sampling is to internationally accepted standards, such as ASTM D923, in order to obtain meaningful and consistent results.
-
NATA accredited organisations have a proven, independently assessed benchmark for performance. That means we hold ourselves to a higher standard than non-accredited labs and have the certification to prove it.
NATA accreditation of the machinemonitor Oil Lab means our "organisation can be trusted, technical results counted on and inspected products and services safe and reliable for public use".
We are also certified under key International Standards via Bureau Veritas.
All your required insulating oil testing services in one NATA-certified laboratory
Our expert suite of tests are part of a comprehensive transformer condition maintenance program to ensure your transformer assets operate reliably and efficiently, ensuring your confidence in production planning.
Regular oil testing, together with expert engineering and our reporting and analysis platform, TxAnalyser®, is crucial for the early detection of potential issues and the prevention of transformer failures and longevity.
✅
Dissolved Gas Analysis
(DGA) by Gas Chromatography (ASTM D3612)
Evaluates the transformer's internal health by:
Identifying and quantifying gases dissolved in the transformer oil, a critical diagnostic method, and
Serving as a reliable early warning indicator of potential faults within the transformer's system.
✅
Oil Quality
Our Oil Quality testing schedule will give you a complete picture of your transformer assets reliability and longevity.
Oil Quality can include a number of tests including DGA and Furan Analysis, colour, acidity and water content. Oil quality testing yields insights into:
The material condition and operation of your transformer, and
Determines the suitability of transformer oil for its intended purpose.
✅
Furan Analysis
Data analytics with human engineering expert always in charge
Indicates the extent of thermal wear on cellulose components within your transformers.
Estimates your transformer’s lifespan by assessing the transformer insulation’s condition.
