Reflections on Mainstream Conference 2023: machinemonitor® returns after 15-year hiatus with groundbreaking asset management solution.

After more than a decade and a half behind the scenes refining condition monitoring for Australasia's largest machines, machinemonitor® made an impactful return to the prestigious Mainstream Conference, held in Melbourne, Australia, last week.

This annual gathering of asset management professionals presented a timely moment to reintroduce our core competencies as electrical field engineers as well as our cutting-edge solutions in asset management, asset maintenance and condition monitoring.

Unveiling OptMonitor and Expert Insights

This annual gathering of asset management professionals presented a timely moment to reintroduce our core competencies as HV electrical asset field engineers, as well as our cutting-edge solutions in asset management, asset maintenance and condition monitoring.

The conference served as the stage for the official launch of machinemonitor®'s new electrical asset continuous monitoring solution, OptMonitor. Plus, Luca Garagnani delivered a very well attended technical presentation on Cable Fault Management.

Our return captured the attention of attendees and underscored the relevance and depth of our knowledge and commitment to staying at the forefront of asset management and asset monitoring innovation.

Beyond the Sessions: Dynamic Interactions

The success of machinemonitor®'s return to Mainstream Conference was a collective effort between COO-West Craig Williams, COO-OptMonitor Luca Garagnani, Principal Technical Authority (Transformers) Lawrie Cleary, and Marketing & Publications Coordinator Irena Bukhshtaber.

Craig Williams, COO-West and over a dozen years experience in the field, said:

“The mainstream conference left a lasting impression on me, particularly due to the dynamic interactions that took place during the breaks.

What stood out was the remarkable level of interest shown by a multitude of attendees in our services and products – an unprecedented response by any measure.

The Mainstream event was dedicated to showcasing our core competencies, and this was evident in the enthusiastic participation during the roundtable discussions and speaker sessions.

One of the key takeaways was the genuine intrigue displayed by participants in the realm of asset maintenance, encompassing both mechanical and electrical aspects. This overwhelming engagement highlighted the resonance of our expertise in the field.”

Principal Technical Authority, Lawrie Cleary, who has decades of experience in transformers, said:

“Mainstream was one of the best technical conferences I have attended in over 40 years.

My highlights were the level of approachable and likeminded professionals attending, coupled with excellent keynote speakers, who engaged the audience and set the scene for thoughtful discussions.

Saul Griffith discussing world energy events and Amazon’s Darren Nerland’s Valuing your Maintenance & Reliability People were particular highlights.

The challenge of networking and making new connections amongst 500+ attendees was made easier with both the layout and support of Mainstream co-ordinators.”

Luca Garagnani, COO-OptMonitor and first-time presenter said:

“Mainstream is an amazing event.

“We had the opportunity to meet a large number of people in person with similar vision and mission for contributing to the industry.

“I was also fortunate to present on the subject that I’m passionate about – data analysis for condition assessment of electrical assets.

“I felt very welcomed by the audience and am very much looking forward to be part of it again!”

Irena’s highlight was attending the Roundtable discussion on diversity hiring. She said:

“It was enlightening to see how seriously hiring managers in our industries value diversity.

“We discussed how to attract women specifically as well as how to appeal to different ethnicities and the Queer community.

“One participant shared that they posted two ads for each open role, with language to appeal to the specific gender and had staff read over it for that purpose. As a writer, I very much agree that targeted language matters I just never realised how much.”

Key Insights and Future Direction

Looking ahead, machinemonitor® remains committed to shaping the future of best-practice asset management armed with renewed relationships, insights and a renewed sense of purpose gained at the conference.

One of our key insights from the conference was the genuine interest participants displayed in asset maintenance. As industries continue to evolve, efficient maintenance and optimal performance remain crucial. The conference reinforced machinemonitor®’s commitment to delivering impactful solutions that align with industry demands.

We look forward to attending the WA Mainstream event later this year.
